About Us
The team of the German Information Center USA serves Americans by opening a window on modern Germany. In providing unique resources and information services, the German Information Center USA is dedicated to fulfilling the public diplomacy mission of the German Embassy in Washington, D.C. If you are a journalist, we invite you to visit our media center's press room by selecting it from the above menu bar. The German Information Center USA was established in 1961 in New York City. At the time, New York was considered the most important media hub in the United States, a role gradually taken over by the capital, Washington, D.C. In July 2003, therefore, the German Information Center USA moved its offices to Washington, D.C., bringing together its special expertise in public diplomacy with that of the Embassy's cultural and press sections to better serve Americans with an interest in today's Germany .
The bilingual staff of the German Information Center USA is glad to answer your questions about political, social and economic developments in Germany. Please select your area of interest from the drop-down menu on our contact form. Please note that inquiries related to consular affairs (visa, passports) should be directed to the consular department of the German Embassy or your nearest German General Consulate.
