Both Shows Now Sold Out Well-Known Munich Cabaret Troupe to Perform at German Embassy
The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany, in cooperation with Deutsche Welle and the Friends of the Goethe-Institut in Washington, DC (FOGI), will present two performances by the satirical and political cabaret artists of the well-known Münchner Lach- und Schiessgesellschaft on April 30 and May 1. Both performances are now sold out. Verlängert The Münchner Lach- und Schiessgesellschaft’s special anniversary program “Verlängert” [“Extended”] is a one-of-a-kind compilation of 50 years of post-war Germany. Edgy and hilariously politically incorrect, the extraordinary talents of Sonja Kling, Ecco Meineke and Thomas Wenke are put to the test in a myriad of roles culminating in a singular mix of theatre, cabaret and absurd humor. Born on the symbolic date of May 9, 1945, Dietmar Deutschland (as “channeled” by Thomas Wenke) is in the process of planning a real estate venture, titled “Great License 50” with his Chinese business partner, Miss Hedge Fong (as portrayed by Sonja Kling). A number of aches and pains brings him to Dr. Bruck, a charlatan (embodied by Ecco Meineke) who prescribes a series of hypnotic “re-plays.” The therapy gets underway … and Deutschland is forced to come to terms with five decades of its most recent past. We would like to thank our partners, Deutsche Welle and Friends of Goethe-Institut in Washington, DC, and the generous sponsors of this event, Lufthansa, Dräger Foundation, Deutsche Telekom, Deutsche Post, Volkswagen, and Bayer AG.
