Gold medal for Deutsche Welle Radio at New York Festivals
On October 12 New York Festivals announced the winners of the 2006 Radio Programming and Promotion Awards. German Radio Station Deutsche Welle won a Gold World Medal in the category “education” for its feature “Uwe From Outer Space” (“Uwe aus dem All”) written by journalists Stefan Reusch and Ramon Garcia-Ziemsen. “Uwe from outer space” is not only a language learning service for soccer fans. Uwe's adventures can be enjoyed by anyone who is interested in German. Jam packed with information about the country, its people, and amusing stereotypes, not to mention a touch of romance, this is a a very special kind of introduction to Germany A Silver Medal in the category “Best Regularly Scheduled Music Program” was awarded to the feature “Festival Concerts, Leipzig 2005” by Rick Fulker and Klaus Gehrke.
